The word “Tashinga”, loosely translated means “we have been on a journey of endeavour, and despite the difficulties, we have won through”. This name was originally chosen for the Headquarters Station of Matusadona National Park on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe.
Matusadona National Park was home for Lynne Taylor, Foundation and Director of The Tashinga Initiative. For ten years, she lived in the Park with her Ecologist husband, Russell, and their two children, Julie and Winston. Lynne fell in love with this Park, its flora and fauna, and thus the people who, through the years, have tended its fragile ecosystems.
Through The Tashinga Initiative’s DVDs “Challenge in Zimbabwe” and “Mission Possible” DVDs, the introductory Brochure and the Powerpoint Presentation, Lynne brings to your attention the urgent need to continue the protection of the incredibly valuable Parks and Wildlife Estate and World Heritage Sites that lie throughout the Zambezi River Valley of Zimbabwe.
The Parks and Wildlife Management Authority have given both its encouragement and support in working with The Tashinga Initiative, towards protecting and securing this natural heritage for generations to come, and have sealed its approval of The Tashinga Initiative through a formal Memorandum of Understanding.
This is an invitation to take a journey in the protection of the Zambezi Valley Parks through your consideration of this Proposal.
